On Monday Night I basically said that the Colts made a smart decision in letting Peyton Manning go for the younger Andrew Luck. Luck then went out and embarrassed me by losing to the San Diego Chargers in his MNF debut, even though it wasn’t really his fault and his receivers screwed him by dropping a bunch of balls. This coming weekend I’m probably going to look even worse when Peyton returns to Indy with his star-studded Broncos offense. If Peyton didn’t already have revenge on his mind, he certainly will want to slaughter the Colts after hearing that their owner Jim Irsay was talking shit this week, saying how Peyton’s regular season success should have translated to more Super Bowl rings. When you come at the king you best not miss, Jimmy. Peyton is gonna go off on Sunday and now me and you are both going to look stupid. Way to go, dick… That being said, I do stand by my initial opinion that taking Andrew Luck was the right decision and a better long-term investment for the Colts.
Tonight we got Seattle (-4.5) at Arizona. If I were a gambling man, which I a definitely am, I would not hesitate to take the Seahawks in this one. I predict Carson Palmer turns it over at least twice against this vaunted Seattle D, especially in one of these Thursday night games that are usually so sloppy.
In other news from around the league, everyone is hurt…
The Pats lost Amendola again- it looked as if his head came off last weekend after taking a brutal blow against the Saints. Gronk still doesn’t seem fit to play. Top CB Aqib Talib is questionable going forward. And defensive captain Jerod Mayo is lost for the year, as is run-stopping beast Vince Wilfork.
Green Bay loses star WR Randall Cobb for at least a month, and fellow receiver James Jones may miss some time as well. Looks like Jordy Nelson is going to need to do a whole lot to keep Aaron Rodgers happy.
The Cowboys are going to be without Demarcus Ware for 3-4 weeks, and it’s not like Monte Kiffin’s Defense can afford to lose him right now. This Dallas secondary is getting shredded when they can’t get a proper pass rush. Starting RB Demarco Murray is also gone for a couple weeks.
Eagles are without Mike Vick, look for lanky Nick Foles to take his place and possibly win the starter’s job if he plays well enough.
As predicted earlier on this site, Matt Schaub will be on the bench this week for the Texans. Yes, it is technically because he is injured, but this change was comin’ either way. Fans in Houston are sick of Schaub and want to see the yet untested Houston product Case Keenum. I like Keenum and think this is a good move for the Texans, but switching to a rookie QB against the Chiefs #1 ranked defense in Kansas City (one of the tougher places to play in the league) might spell a lot of trouble for this Houston squad.
The G-men wont have RB David Wilson… but I don’t like talking about the Giants these days so whatever. Brandon Jacobs and Peyton Hillis will make us the most diesel backfield of 2009, no doubt.
