Lots of stuff to talk about in the coming weeks. NCAA tourney, NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs, the start of baseball, you name it. If it wasn’t for the lack of football, March-April would easily be contending for best sports months of the year.
But on the eve of March Madness, our eyes are not only on the future but on the past. Here at Bush League, we are students of history, and we feel that you should be too. Although this site was only put up about 30 minutes ago, here is a brief glimpse into Bush League’s short yet glorious past.
Mid 1990s: Al Gore is frustrated with the lack of quality sports reporting coming from traditional media outlets, and subsequently invents the internet.
1990s-2011: The internet revolutionizes society, but not in the way that Gore had envisioned. Rather than focusing on a new breed of sports reporting, the world wide web is used strictly for porn or illegally downloading music by 98% of the population. Something called the Arab Spring happens, but mostly people are watching porn.
August 2012: Alex Wilder and Kevin Hisey found Bush League Sports in an attempt to save the internet, sports, and America from certain destruction.
September 2012 – February 2013: Too much is weed is being smoked. Articles are discussed but never written. We plan on doing a piece on who deserves to win the AL MVP in which I’m arguing for Miguel Cabrera and Kevin Aka the Spice Box is picking Mike Trout. I obviously win the argument because hitting for the triple crown is an incredibly rare feat and baseball respects history and tradition more than any other sport. Yes, Trout had a phenomenal year, but the old decrepit baseball writers were never going to vote for a rookie who’s most impressive statistics (saber metric jibber-jabber) were barely comprehensible to the average fan. Anyways, that deadline passes and we need something fresh to write about it. February creeps up on us and the Super Bowl is an obvious choice. Once again me and the Spice Box make our picks but don’t actually write any articles (blame the weed). I went with Baltimore because I felt that Ray’s last ride could give the Ravens the fuel they needed to go all out in that final 60 minutes, and that’s what you need to win the most important game of the season: wanting to win more than anything else in the world. Kev took the Niners because well, he’s a pats fan and he was bitter. Needless to say I was right again. Am I bragging over the internet with no actual proof to support my claims? Yes I am. Is that a problem? No it isn’t… Had I actually written those articles, they would have been fucking amazing and everyone knows it.
March 21, 2013: Bush League Sports is officially up and running. We’ll be bringing you the latest in sports and other cool shit starting with the NCAA tourney which tips-off tomorrow. Stay posted for our bracket picks coming tomorrow.
